JEVIL

FIRST UP, we have the first secret boss of Deltarune! Honestly I wish he was more utilized in later chapters, I miss him. He's freed himself from the narrative to the point where he's just never talked about lol

Half the stuff this man says makes no sense but I don't care.

He's clearly way stronger than he lets on, too. You don't even defeat him in his battle, he just goes back to sleep. Toby Fox please let him have an epic comeback in Chapter 5 and my life is yours.

SHADOW MILK COOKIE

THE BEAST OF DECEIT MY BELOVED.

I don't care that he's Devsis' favorite marketing tool I LIKE HIM. I WANNA KEEP SEEING HIM BE DERANGED.

Like good lord I am 100% over villains being redeemed lol. Seeing them be so detached and wondering what they'll do next is half the fun.

If only his name didn't remind me that this is a cookie game mostly aimed at children, my god trying to tell non-fans about him is pain haha-

What can I really say- one of, if not my favorite kind of villain is the type that gets into the protagonist's head. Their words having that much power is so interesting to witness.

DIMENTIO

I don't see this guy talked about hardly ever and it makes me upsetti-

Admittedly he has less complexity than the others I've talked about. He has the standard goal of wanting to rule the universe and junk.

Will say though, the mental games he plays with people, mainly Count Bleck and Luigi, makes him an interesting antagonist. Fitting for a jester I think.

I just find him super charismatic and entertaining when he shows up lol admittedly this one isn't that deep.

SUN/MOON/ECLIPSE

I don't need to say anything here I think lol

I have a whole other shrine dedicated to these fools, go read that if you want the infodump :3

Oh god this is probably my most ambitious shrine yet- formating all these images was a mission and a half lol

BUT to get right to the point- lemme pull up the definition of what a jester even is, specifically European court jesters. Essentially, they are actors whose job is just to entertain through jokes and sometimes mockery, which they could often get away with since it was meant to just be comedic.

They could do a variety of other things to keep the nobility happy beyong just that, though. They also possessed skills in acrobatics, magic tricks, storytelling, song and dance.

That and they often ended up being vital informants for royalty by delivering bad news through their performances.

These performers- at least in concept, are super appealing to a lot of people for many reasons.

For me personally, I think I like the mix of eccentricity, humor, and a sharp wit that doesn't seem obvious until the realization hits you like a ton of bricks.

Something about these brightly-dressed comedians that are smarter than they look, and can influence entire crowds of people, including royalty, with their performances alone just does it for me. ^^

Now lemme show off some of my favorite fictional jesters! >:3
